I know i'm late, but i just bought Rush's latest album Snakes & Arrows through iTunes. One word: AWESOME!!!
Favorite tracks:
- Far Cry (awesome chorus and Neil Peart just plain rocks)
- Armor & Sword (a mix of the old and new)
- The Main Monkey Business (maybe THE best instrumental by Rush since La Villa Strangiato)
- Malignant Narcissism (another excellent instrumental)
Great album!!
How time has served Apple
Mark your calendars...
What's a Rush fan without a Neil Peart drum solo.
iPhone, iPhone, iPhone. Yeah, it reminds me of the Bradys. So much hype for the iPhone is good, but could be very bad for Apple. So, what do you think?
Get ready for it on the 29th at 6:00 pm local time.
Somehow, these "embed widgets" feature in Vox doesn't work so well. The poll ain't supposed to be that small.
So, Steves' keynote (or Stevenote as some says) came and went. I bet you were excited as i was. And i bet you as dissapointed as i was at the end. Why?
Well, it was obvious there was not going to be any hardware announcement, it doesn't make sense any more for Apple. And they are NOT going to announce aredesigned iMac without having Leopard pre-installed. So, it was more than obvious that the keynote was about Leopard and only Leopard (yeah, and some iPhone bluff).
Then, why dissapointed? "300 new features" said Steve, only 10 to show. Great, here's hoping a new Finder. Well yeah, i got that and 3 new features. The others? Refer to WWDC'06. Time Machine? Yeah. Spaces? Ok. iChat? Whatever. Boot Camp? So?
Don't get me wrong, those are huge features, but they're aint new. So, about those NEW features:
- New Desktop: Very eye candy, but very awesome. The Dock looks cool, but not more useful as it was before. The menu bar looks good, but i do hope there is a setting which lets me turn it off. Stacks is the big one. Very eye candy, and looks useful.
- New Finder: This is the big one. A unified theme (YAY, no more brushed metals.... although those aqua scroll bars are still there). So, is it a new Finder? From what you can see (there could be more features behind the scenes) is the Finder with an iTunes 7 theme. That's it... next feature. Well, there is more cool stuff, but its still the Finder.
- Quick Look: This is not technically new (there was screenshots of this feature in early builds of Leopard) but is a very cool and useful feature. Basically, lets you preview anything on your Mac without opening it (Similar to a contextual menu called "QuickImage")
Now, eventhough the Stevenote was a bummer (for a fanboy), Leopard is going to be huge mainly because of Core Animation. Believe me, this will change EVERYTHING!!!
One more thing? Safari.... ON WINDOWS?!?!?!?!?! One last thing? iPhone apps... through SAFARI!?!?!?!?! Yeah, pretty huge stuff.... blah.
Well, those are my first thoughts of the 'note. Its a shame Apple has the power to create so much hype. With so much hype, there is always a danger in not living up to the hype. You know when a keynote is not that good when the talk of the show is Safari on Windows.
